What Do Fellows Do?

English Language Fellows assist U.S. Embassies throughout the world in their goals of facilitating democratic institution building and encouraging participation in the global economy.

English Language Fellows have a unique opportunity to contribute to intercultural understanding in ways that reach far beyond improving the English teaching capacity of institutions. In addition to their official teaching responsibilities and teacher development activities, Fellows create opportunities for English language conversation and cross-cultural dialogue. Past Fellows have sponsored activities that reflect their personal interests and perspectives and foster positive change in their host communities.

Senior Fellows

Senior Fellows serve primarily as as teacher trainers and may be engaged in supervision; advising; ESP instruction in the fields of law, management, economics, medicine, and tourism; curriculum/materials development; test design; assessment; evaluation; programming; research; and other outreach projects.

If you are qualified to serve as a Fellow or Senior Fellow and want to live abroad, gain valuable professional experience, and help foster mutual understanding and peaceful world community, we encourage you to apply to the English Language Fellow Program.
